About CutoffRank
CutoffRank is a counselling intelligence platform built for medical entrance aspirants in India. The platform helps students convert their exam marks into a realistic All India Rank prediction, then surfaces the colleges they can actually expect to receive based on their category, home state, and counselling preferences.
Built on official data, not predictions
Most counselling tools available today rely on aggregated estimates, year-old screenshots, or generalized “expected cutoff” tables that lose relevance the moment counselling rounds begin. CutoffRank takes a different approach.
Every cutoff and insight on this platform is derived from official publications:
- Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) allotment PDFs for All India Quota rounds
- State CET Cell publications for state-specific quota allotments (currently Maharashtra, with additional states being added)
- Official AIIMS publications for INI-CET cutoffs
- National Testing Agency (NTA) anchor points for marks-to-rank correlation
The platform’s marks-to-AIR database draws from over 113,000 verified candidate observations sourced exclusively from official counselling documents. No web scraping. No second-hand sources. No coaching center estimates.
Who built this
CutoffRank is built and operated by Dr. Malhar Paneliya, a medical graduate from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur).
Having gone through the Indian medical counselling system personally, the founder identified a critical gap: students were making high-stakes decisions about their medical careers using inaccurate, outdated, or speculative information. CutoffRank was created to give aspirants the same caliber of data analysis that previously required hours of manual cross-referencing across dozens of official PDFs.
What CutoffRank does
For students using the platform, CutoffRank provides:
- Personalized cutoff search based on marks, category, course, year, and home state
- All India Quota college rankings based on official MCC data
- State quota analysis for participating states
- Marks-to-rank conversion using authoritative candidate-level data
- Historical cutoff comparisons across counselling years
- Insights on government seat probability, hidden opportunities, and rank cushion analysis
Every search result is computed in real time from the underlying database. Results are not pre-generated or templated. Each query returns information specific to the student’s profile.
Current status
CutoffRank is currently in active development with a focus on NEET UG and INI-CET data. Additional examinations including NEET PG, JEE Main, and JEE Advanced are planned for future releases.
Data is updated as official publications are released, typically following each counselling round.
