West Bengal NEET UG counselling.

West Bengal NEET UG counselling is conducted by the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC), Department of Health and Family Welfare. Notably, WBMCC is SEPARATE from the Director of Medical Education (DME) - unique among Indian states. The counselling allocates 85% State Quota seats in 26 Government Medical Colleges plus Cat-A and Cat-B seats in 15 Private Medical Colleges. AIIMS Kalyani admits 100% via MCC AIQ counselling (statutory autonomous). West Bengal cutoffs use 47 distinct quota codes (largest dataset of any state) with UNIQUE 2-tier OBC reservation: OBC-A (More Backward) and OBC-B (Less Backward) plus generic OBC.

About the rounds

WBMCC runs an online counselling cycle over 4-9 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Stray Round, Extended Stray Round, plus up to 3 Special Stray rounds and a Date-Specific Special Stray Dec 30 round if seats remain. Each round publishes opening and closing AIR per college per category per quota. The cutoff data has 2,198 rows in the database covering 2024-2025 with this granular detail.

West Bengal has UNIQUE 2-tier OBC reservation: OBC-A (More Backward Classes, 10%) and OBC-B (Less Backward Classes, 7%). Domicile rules

To claim West Bengal state quota seats, candidates must satisfy WB domicile clauses: (a) born in WB with continuous residence + education, (b) parent is a WB state government employee, (c) parent is a permanent resident of WB, (d) candidate studied in WB for the qualifying years. WB Domicile Certificate from BDO/SDM is required at verification. Caste certificates must be issued by WB state authority.
