Delhi runs 9 government medical colleges including 1 AIIMS Delhi (Central, AIQ-only via MCC), 1 ESIC Basaidarapur (Central, new 2025 entrant), 3 Delhi University-affiliated heritage colleges (Lady Hardinge 1916, Maulana Azad 1958, UCMS GTB 1971), and 4 IPU-affiliated colleges (VMMC Safdarjung 2002, ABVIMS-RML 2008, North Delhi Municipal 2013, Dr. BSA Ambedkar 2016). Total government MBBS seats: 1,297.
The flagship Delhi government medical colleges are AIIMS Delhi (1956, 132 seats, AIQ-only), Maulana Azad MC (1958, 250 seats), Lady Hardinge MC for Women (1916, 240 seats, oldest women medical college in India), UCMS GTB (1971, 170 seats), VMMC Safdarjung (2002, 170 seats), and ABVIMS-RML (2008, 100 seats).
